Night watchman tour in the half-timbered town of Zavelstein
"Listen you people and let me tell you..." with this song, the guardian of the night greets you on an exciting walk through the old alleyways and corners of Zavelstein. Back then, he tirelessly roamed the dark streets to ensure peace and order and to protect the citizens from danger.
He made sure that the front doors and town gates were locked and, armed with his halberd, warned the sleeping citizens of fire, enemies and thieves. In wind and weather, he helped one or two councillors find their way home after long meetings.
For centuries, the night watchman was the faithful eye of the law and guarded the town and its castle ruins. Listen to the eerie stories of times long past and join him on a journey back to medieval times. - in what was once the smallest town in Germany. Unfortunately, the night watchman tour cannot take place in bad weather. (Pictures copyright Jan Walter)Registration under 07053 9205040 or info@teinachtal.de
